The Supreme People's Court and the Department of Justice of Hong Kong Special Administration Region expect to further joint judicial work to provide better legal services for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to a high official of the top court.

Yang Wanming, vice-president of the SPC, expressed that view when he met with Teresa Cheng, secretary for the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong SAR on July 18 in Beijing.

The construction of the Greater Bay Area brings new opportunities to lawyers from the mainland and Hong Kong, said Cheng, adding that she hopes that the two sides will strengthen cooperation and explore early and pilot implementation measures in the Greater Bay Area.

The judicial cooperative motivation and confidence between the top court and the department of justice increased since two judicial assistance arrangements on civil and commercial cases were signed this year, said Yang.

The two sides also exchanged ideas on new judicial-related policy pilots in the Greater Bay Area.
