Darryl Goon, judicial commissioner of the Kuala Lumpur High Court of Malaysia, delivers a speech on enforcement procedures in Malaysia and the use of information and communication technology in trials and enforcement at a seminar themed on "the Future of Enforcement Legislation" at the World Enforcement Conference on Jan 22. He said that most judgment enforcement must be executed with a writ of execution approved by the court. In addition, foreign parties can litigate in Malaysia and foreign judgments are also enforceable; legislation to that effect is in force in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the country's judicial department also appreciates the role information technology plays in enforcement procedures and courts at various levels are promoting paperless offices.
