Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), met with some of the international judicial officers attending the World Enforcement Conference on Jan 21 in Shanghai.

Zhou welcomed the guests to the conference on behalf of the SPC and pointed out the significance of enforcement.

The efficient enforcement of commercial and other civil judgments to maintain market order is a key challenge faced by many countries.

The conference will be a platform for all countries to exchange judicial experience, which will promote the enforcement of civil and commercial cases and optimize the world legal system, he added.

At the meeting, Zhou mentioned that China's courts have a goal of resolving the problem of difficult enforcement within two to three years. To date, courts at various levels are focusing on building a long-term mechanism to increase the efficiency of enforcement work.

He said China's courts are willing to learn from other countries' enforcement experience to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Attendees highly valued China's "rule by law" and enforcement work and its informatization construction of courts and showed their willingness to increase judicial cooperation on enforcement with China.

Also present at the meeting were Jiang Wei and Yang Wanming, the SPC's vice-presidents; Liu Guixiang, full-time member of the judicial committee of the SPC and Liu Xiaoyun, president of the Shanghai High People's Court.
