China is preparing to celebrate its second National Constitution Day on December 4. Government officials inaugurated the day at the 11th session of the 12th National People's Congress last year on Nov 11. As the country gets ready for the day, let’s see how other countries celebrate their constitution.

The United States celebrates Constitution Day on Sept 17. To become naturalized citizens, applicants are required to take part in a naturalization ceremony and take an Oath of Allegiance on the day.

The US President often delivers a speech on constitution anniversaries. The US Federal Agency will also provide constitution-related training and education materials.

Some educational institutions receive funding support from the US Federal Agency and hold activities, such as lectures, readings, and patriotic school lunches, to inform students about the constitution.

Aside from being a significant day for Russia to celebrate its constitution, Dec 12 also a chance for citizens of the country to kick back and relax. The day was designated as a national holiday in 2005.

As one might expect, presidential speeches are a standard feature at Constitution Day celebrations, but it is the annual beauty pageant that captures the attention of the nation. Contestants from all over the country take part in a televised beauty contest on the day to demonstrate their patriotism.

In 2008, Russia held the “Miss Constitution” beauty pageant in the Red Square of Moscow on Dec 12 to celebrate its 15th anniversary of approval of Federal Constitution.

And in 2013, President Vladimir Putin delivered an “annual state-of -the-nation speech” on the Constitution Day.
