An academic forum about Chinese Criminal Law Study was held on April 21, 2015, in Beijing. The forum was also a celebration to the 87-year-old professor Gao Mingxuan, who recently received a Beccaria Medal, at the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

Li Shaoping, vice president of Supreme People's Court, Zhu Xiaoqing, the former Deputy Attorney General of Supreme People's Procuratorate, and several other officials from political-legal organs, experts and scholars from institutions and colleges participated the forum.

Gao is the dean emeritus of Beijing Normal University's Criminal Law Science Research Institute and also a distinguished professor in the university's Law School and honorary vice-president of the International Association of Penal Law. Gao received the medal on April 15, in Doha, the capital city of West Asian country Qatar.
