Against the backdrop of increasing numbers of cases, trials are still of high-quality and high-efficiency, said Ge Xiaoyan, an NPC deputy and president of the Jiangxi Higher People's Court, when commenting on court achievements in China over the past five years on March 10.

She said the working report delivered by Chief Justice Zhou Qiang is “exciting and inspired”.

The working report shows that courts around the nation work hard to “let the people feel fairness and justice in every single judicial case,” she noted.

Courts are responsible to the people, and so a handful of major cases of miscarriage were corrected, she added.

Efforts to prevent and correct wrongful convictions had seen the correction of 37 major cases of miscarriage of justice involving 61 people, and the acquittal of 4,032 defendants in accordance with the law from 2013 to 2017, according to a white paper issued by China's State Council Information Office.

“I hope the Supreme People’s Court can give more guidance to courts in Jiangxi province,” said Ge.

“The experience of courts’ involvement in the rural governance in Jiangxi should be summarized and promoted,” she added.
