“The work report shows the achievement over the past five years and has a profound analysis of the existing problems,” said Qiu Shuiping, an NPC deputy and president of the Shanxi Higher People's Court, after reviewing the report on March 10.

Courts in Shanxi province have witnessed the progress, said Qiu, adding that the quality and efficiency of trials in the province jumped to No 3 in the entire country.

The rate of trials broadcast online at the Shanxi Higher People's Court ranks second in China, he added.

According to Qiu, deepening judicial system reform, promoting the construction of smart courts, improving the court talent pool and keeping court staff free from corruption are important issues for the future.
