“The work report of the Supreme People’s Court reflects the spirit of pragmatism and innovation,” said Gao Jinghong, an NPC deputy and president of the Tianjin Higher People's Court, when reviewing the report on March 10.

“It carries a forward-looking vision, and can guide the work of courts in the future with targets,” he added.

Gao said the report highlighted the achievements of courts around the country in six aspects, namely trials and enforcement, justice for the people, reform of the judicial system, judicial openness, information construction, and talent pools.

Gao suggested that courts around the nation should care more about nurturing judicial talents, especially young ones.

He also said that supervision of lower courts must be strengthened.

Gao noted as well that the construction of cross-department big data working platforms should be accelerated, and litigation system reform, which focuses on trials, should be further promoted.
