SPC highlights AI’s role in advancing rule of law in the digital era
On July 8, the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) organized a special lecture on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into judicial proceedings.

On the theme of seizing new opportunities and addressing new challenges of AI to advance the rule of law in the development of new quality productive forces, Chen offered an in-depth analysis of the emerging role of AI in promoting legal modernization.
Chen talked about the background and scientific implications of new quality productive forces, the strategic role of AI as a key driver for developing new quality productive forces and prudent approaches to integrating AI into judicial work. He also shared his insights on the importance of judicial safeguards in AI application, the role of AI in enhancing judicial efficiency and the challenges that come with AI-powered administration of justice.
Tao Kaiyuan, vice-president of the SPC, chaired the session and highlighted the broad perspective, theoretical depth, and practical relevance of the lecture, urging judicial personnel to integrate these insights into their daily work.
She reiterated the SPC's commitment to monitoring AI trends closely and leveraging judicial functions to provide strong legal support for the sound and orderly growth of AI.
Representatives from the SPC's departments, circuit courts, the Intellectual Property Court, affiliated institutions, and local people’s courts attended the lecture in person or via video link.
