During the meeting, Zhang Jun, secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and president of the SPC, emphasized the need to make consistent efforts to enhance adjudication work in the new era.

Focusing on the issues currently facing courts nationwide as well as the weak links in adjudication work, meeting participants adopted a problem-oriented approach and put forward practical measures.

Zhang commended these measures and emphasized the importance of effective implementation thereof.

He underlined the need to always uphold the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) over judicial work, firmly uphold the people-centered development philosophy, resolutely follow the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, and strive to translate the institutional advantages into governance efficiency.

To this end, he noted that it is essential to continuously implement and deepen reform of the judicial system, and focus on the dual responsibilities of the highest adjudication organ in handling specific cases and supervising lower-level courts, Zhang said. This involves solidifying effective adjudication management in accordance with judicial principles, which will enhance the quality and efficiency of adjudication, and effectively supervise the work of courts at lower levels.

It is important to cultivate a loyal, ethically sound and responsible judicial workforce for the new era, bearing in mind that the conduct of judicial officers matters to the quality and effectiveness of adjudication, public perceptions of the administration of justice, and the image of the CPC, Zhang noted.

He called for in-depth study of the guiding principles of the eight-point decisions of the CPC Central Committee to improve conduct, and rectify problems identified in the process, so as to further enhance adjudication quality and efficiency.

The meeting reached consensus on upholding the rule of law, enhancing judicial integrity, and ensuring that the judiciary serves the people effectively under the leadership of the CPC.
