The Supreme People's Court (SPC) released four typical cases on safeguarding the rights and interests of Taiwan compatriots on Dec 19 as part of its efforts to promote high-quality development of Taiwan-related judicial work.

The move is a concrete measure of the SPC to implement the decisions made at the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee on deepening integrated development across the Taiwan Strait by maximizing the role of typical cases in guiding Taiwan-related adjudication and responding to the concerns of Taiwan compatriots and enterprises in a timely fashion.

The newly-released typical cases cover areas such as cross-Strait marine ecological conservation, safeguarding the rights and interests of Taiwan business people in investments, intellectual property rights protection, and resolving Taiwan-related disputes at the root.

They are tangible outcomes of the people’s courts’ continuous efforts in implementing equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots and enterprises, equal protection of the legitimate rights and interests of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and actively serving the integrated development across the Strait.

These cases will play a guiding role in enhancing the quality and efficiency of Taiwan-related adjudication in the people's courts.
