International Symposium on Rule of Law in Financial Regulation held in Shanghai

On June 20, the International Symposium on the Rule of Law in Financial Regulation, part of the 2024 Lujiazui Forum, was held in Shanghai. Vice-President of the Supreme People’s Court Yang Linping attended and addressed the event.

Yang extended congratulations on the success of the event, saying that this symposium, themed on China's practice and international experiences on law-based high-quality financial development, was of great practical significance for adhering to a socialist financial development path with Chinese characteristics, and promoting rule of law in the financial sector and the sustainable and healthy development of the financial industry in China.

She called for efforts in innovating adjudication mechanisms and rules to convey China's experience in financial adjudication. Coordinated governance with financial regulatory departments is needed to improve the diversified dispute resolution mechanism and strive for the resolution of disputes at the source, she said.

She also called for enhancing the ability in handling foreign-related cases, continuing to strengthen research on cases concerning cross-border finance and offshore finance, and fully tapping the role of the Chinese Courts International Exchanges Base (Shanghai) For Financial Judgment to promote global exchanges and cooperation on financial judiciary.

The symposium included two parallel sessions: the institutional opening-up of the financial sector and improvement of the rule of law, and legal responses to prevent financial risks.
