The 2023 Cross-Strait Judicial Practice Seminar was held in Putian, East China's Fujian province, on Aug 18. Yang Wanming, honorary vice-president of the China Association of Judges, attended the event.
Yang acknowledged the people's courts' efforts to comprehensively implement the overall strategy of the Communist Party of China in addressing the Taiwan question in the new era, focusing on the principle of "fairness and efficiency", fully tapping the functional role of trials and innovating judiciary involving Taiwan, which has promoted integrated development across the Strait. Noting that Fujian has unique advantages and significance in promoting cross-Strait integration and development, given its geological proximity to Taiwan, Yang said that courts in Fujian have worked proactively to build platforms for cross-Strait exchanges and integrated development, and further promoted the innovative development of Taiwan-related judicial work.
He raised his hope that the seminar will yield rich theoretical and practical results that have far-reaching significance and contribute to further exchanges and integrated development across the Strait.
Jointly hosted by the Fujian Judges Association and the Association of Cross-Strait Legal Exchanges (Taiwan), the seminar saw the attendance of over 100 guests in the theoretical and practical circles of legal affairs across the Strait, who held discussions and exchanges on topics of common concern and responded to the judicial needs of people on both sides of the Strait.
