Top court presidents of China, Nicaragua hold video meeting

Zhang noted that China and Nicaragua resumed diplomatic ties in December 2021, which turned a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries. Under the common care and guidance of the two heads of state, China-Nicaragua political mutual trust has continued to deepen, high-level interactions have increased, pragmatic cooperation has expanded, and bilateral relations have achieved leapfrog development, he said. This meeting has milestone significance as it is the first judicial exchange between the two countries since the resumption of diplomatic ties, he said, raising his hope to take this opportunity to strengthen exchanges, enhance understanding and deepen friendship.

He introduced China's rule of law development, the courts' work and smart court development during the meeting. According to him, China has seen a historic transformation and achievements in the rule of law development under the guidance of China's central leadership. China's SPC is willing to work with the SPJ of Nicaragua to implement the strategic consensus reached between the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, in a bid to provide better legal guarantees for deepening bilateral relations, and to provide strong judicial services for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, he said.

Ramos briefed the Chinese side on her country's political system, trial system, case handling, and personnel management and training. She said that the meeting laid a foundation for the further development of judicial cooperation between the two countries, and raised her hope for continued deepening of pragmatic cooperation between the judicial organs of the two countries, in a bid to contribute to the advancement of bilateral relations.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on topics of common interest, such as case study guidance and criminal trials.
