Top court vows to efficiently handle suggestions and proposals from two sessions
The Supreme People's Court (SPC) should handle proposals and suggestions from the top legislative and political advisory bodies with meticulous efforts, Zhang Jun, China's chief justice and SPC president, said at a meeting on April 19.

This year, a total of 469 suggestions and proposals have been assigned to the SPC, an increase of 6 percent compared with that of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress in 2018.

Zhang urged all involved departments to take a firmer political stance and be active in handling the suggestions and proposals, saying that "handling suggestions and proposals well can inspire a strong driving force for trial work".
He pointed out that many proposals and suggestions target the difficulties and problems in courts' work, and handling them will help courts better perform their duties and implement judicial interpretation and suggestions.
Zhang stressed the importance of method, style, and outcome in proposal and suggestion handling. Contact in advance, frequent communication with NPC deputies and CPPCC members, and timely feedback are necessary before, during and after each handling.
Meticulous and long-term efforts should be made to keep close contact with NPC deputies and CPPCC members and to forge broad consensus, he noted, adding that contact should not only be maintained via the internet and phone calls, but also face-to-face interactions, ensuring the proposals and suggestions are handled in a more practical and effective way.
