SPC head stresses supervision over courts by NPC deputies

The head of China's top court stressed the importance of supervision by deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and pledged to carry out the Party education campaign in courts nationwide during a training session for 288 NPC deputies on April 19.
Zhang Jun, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), introduced the trial system with Chinese characteristics and the courts' trial work through multiple cases and examples.

In his report, Zhang pointed out that a socialist trial system with Chinese characteristics in line with national conditions is the best system and that "justice and efficiency" is the eternal theme of judicial trial work.
Livelihood-related issues, which are the NPC deputies' common concern, have been prioritized and handled attentively, and courts strive to ensure justice in each of such cases, according to Zhang.
He said that more efforts would be made to solve public problems in a timely manner and ensure that every complaint letter receives a reply.
The chief justice also pledged to improve the political integrity and work style of courts staff, their professional skills and work ethic.

At the end of his report, Zhang said people's courts look forward to supervision by the people and value face-to-face communication with NPC deputies, which will help them better carry out the education campaign and advance whole-process people's democracy.
