On March 30, the Fujian High People's Court (HPC) of China signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) at the 7th International Mediation Summit held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province. Permanent member of judicial committee at China's Supreme People's Court Wang Shumei attended the signing ceremony.

The cooperation between the two parties aims to fully tap the function of foreign-related commercial trials, improve the international commercial dispute resolution mechanism, and deepen international judicial cooperation, which will facilitate the building of a Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District and a world-class and law-based business environment. The two parties will make joint efforts to build a diversified resolution mechanism for international commercial disputes, cultivate high-level talent specializing in international commercial laws, promote the international recognition of commercial dispute governance, optimize the law-based business environment, and build new platforms for international cooperation on rule of law, in a bid to provide more pragmatic and professional legal services in the exploration of a diversified dispute governance.

The ICDPASO is a non-governmental international organization and was established on Oct 15, 2020. Supported and initiated by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the ICDPASO was set up by the China Chamber of International Commerce, along with commercial associations, legal service agencies, universities and think tanks across the world. The purpose of the ICDPASO is to provide international, professional and convenient public legal services for the global business community, promote a safer and law-based global business environment, and advance the construction of a fair and reasonable international economic order. It is the only international platform for the prevention and settlement of such disputes.
