Representatives of non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and of personages without party affiliation spoke highly of the reforms and achievements made by the people's courts over the past year and over the decade.

They also gave advice and suggestions on trials and execution, the law-based business environment, the reform of the judicial system, the construction of smart courts, and the team building of judges.

After expressing his thanks for their support in the courts' work, Zhou said the SPC has  continued to serve the overall interest of the country, put people first in judicial practices, safeguard judicial justice, and perform the duties entrusted by the Constitution and the law, with focus on ensuring that the people feel fairness and justice in every judicial case.

The SPC has also expanded the scope and depth of democratic supervision and improved the efficiency of handling proposals, according to Zhou.

Chinese courts will implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), make full play of their judicial function, and advance China's modernization through modernizing the country's adjudicatory system and capability, he noted.

Zhou also stressed the importance of a people-centered development philosophy, the reform of the judicial system, the construction of smart courts, building a loyal and honest team of judges, as well as more contact between the SPC and the non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and personages without party affiliation.

He said he looks forward to their democratic supervision and further support to the courts' work.

Yu Bo, secretary-general of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, called on non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and personages without party affiliation to better carry out democratic supervision and contribute to courts' drive to serve high-quality growth through the rule of law.
