The application of laws should be further standardized, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) should supervise and instruct the trial work of courts nationwide and ensure that the laws are applied in the right and a unified way, said Zhou Qiang.

Zhou, president of the SPC, made the remarks on Feb 14, at a conference on law application, in which a platform concerning the unified application of laws was launched.

According to Zhou, the SPC has been actively promoting the unified application of laws through various measures, such as formulating judicial interpretations, issuing guiding cases, refining the gist of judgments, standardizing the mechanism of professional judges' meetings, and giving full play to the role of the trial committee.

He acknowledged the establishment of the leading group for promoting the unified application of laws and the regular coordination mechanism among different departments.

The launch of the online platform for unified law application signals that the SPC has entered a new stage in standardizing law application, Zhou noted, saying that more efforts are needed to safeguard judicial justice, improve judicial credibility, and standardize the operation of judicial power. We also need to accelerate the construction of a fair, efficient and authoritative socialist judicial system, and to modernize the judicial system and capacity to serve the Chinese path to modernization, he added.

The online platform aims to provide convenience for judges in their work and offer technical support for promoting the application of laws.

Users can access the judgment resources of the SPC, including laws and regulations, typical cases, and theoretical research.
