Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court, attended a symposium featuring an anti-crime TV series, in Beijing on Feb 14.

The drama, titled Draw the Line, demonstrates the latest achievements of China's reform of its judicial system.

In Zhou's speech, he spoke highly of the production, which has explored a new path for the literary and artistic creation on courts' work, saying that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) drew up a grand blueprint for comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and has provided a broad stage for cultural and art works themed on law-based governance.

He stressed ensuring the Party's leadership over cultural and artistic affairs, adhering to a people-centered orientation in their creation, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, as well as promoting  core socialist values and fully tapping the rich resources of the courts' work. 

Zhou also called on courts to strengthen communication and cooperation with the literary and art circles, give full play to the judges' federation of literary and art circles, and produce more works catering to people's taste. 

Wang Hongxiang, deputy secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, expressed his hope that the involved departments will create more outstanding works related to political and legal affairs with joint efforts. 

Zhu Yonglei, deputy head of the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), said the NRTA would further strengthen communication and exchanges with the SPC and other relevant departments to support creators. 

Zhang Hong, a member of the secretariat of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), said the CFLAC would support such creation, unite and lead people in the industry to produce more works that reflect the progress of the times and enrich the people's spiritual world. 

Chen Yan, vice-chairman of the China Writers Association, Yang Haodong, head of the publicity department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Zhang Huali, Party chief of the Hunan-based Golden Eagle Broadcasting System, also gave speeches at the symposium.
