China's chief justice called for strong judicial support for the modernization of  East China's Jiangsu province during his survey trip in the province from Jan 30 to 31.

When he visited the new office of the Third Circuit Court of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) stationed in Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu, Zhou Qiang, president of the SPC, pointed out that the establishment of circuit courts was a key decision made at the fourth plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee in 2014.

He acknowledged the achievements of the SPC's six circuit courts in providing mediation and litigation services at the people's doorstep and facilitating the high-quality growth of the local economy since their establishment and urged them to adhere to the people-centered principle and deepen reforms while improving their services.

After learning of the innovations made by the free trade zone tribunal of the Jiangbei New Area court, Zhou spoke highly of the tribunal's one-stop service platform for foreign-related commercial disputes and urged more efforts to improve its work mechanism so as to help Jiangsu develop a world-class business environment and achieve higher-level opening-up.

In Wuxi's Binhu district, Zhou visited the office zone housing a litigation service center of the local court and the non-litigation service center of the district's judicial bureau. He said it's a good attempt to provide people with more convenient and efficient judicial services.

After hearing the work report of Jiangsu High People's Court President Xia Daohu during his trip to the Wuxi Intermediate People's Court, Zhou acclaimed the Jiangsu court's innovative practices in serving the people.

He called on all courts in the province to facilitate high-quality growth with better judicial services and to modernize their judicial system and capacity to support the Chinese modernization drive.

In addition to the people-oriented principle, Zhou also stressed judicial protection of property rights and intellectual property, judicial reforms, smart court construction and team building.
