The China Applied Jurisprudence Institute (CAJI) is a public institution under the leadership of the Supreme People's Court (SPC). As a specialized academic research institution, its main responsibilities are to promote the study of applied jurisprudence and judicial trial theories, and conduct research on important and long-term topics, such as case compilation, the trial of typical cases and the universal application of laws, based on the core functions of the people's courts, in order to make the supervision and guidance of the SPC over nationwide courts more theory-based and scientific.

The institute is responsible for the regular work of the secretariat of the Association of Judicial Trial Theories of China Law Society.
