China is ready to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with ASEAN member states in advancing the modernization of its trial system and capacity, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace, said Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, on Nov 5.

Zhou made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech at the inaugural ASEAN+ meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) via video link.

He extended his congratulations to the CACJ on the convening of the meeting, saying that it provided an opportunity for mutual learning among courts in China, ASEAN countries, Japan and South Korea, and will surely facilitate consensus building and judicial cooperation in areas of common concern among parties, in a bid to boost the high-quality development of judicial work in all countries.

He said that courts in China have striven to promote the deep integration between achievements of sci-tech innovation, such as big data and artificial intelligence, and judicial work, improve its people-centered litigation service system, and advance the modernization of its trial system and capacity, aiming to achieve justice in every case for the benefit of all people.

He introduced China's efforts on advancing the integration of modern technologies into courts' work and building a people-centered litigation service system. A one-stop diversified dispute resolution and litigation service system has been established, court services have fully gone online, and the analysis and application of judicial big data has been fully tapped for a better and faster achievement of justice, he said, adding that China had pioneered a new model of internet judiciary by establishing internet courts, releasing three sets of rules for online litigation, mediation and operation, and strengthening the judicial application of blockchain technology, which has contributed Chinese wisdom to the reform of litigation systems in the information age.

Chief justices of Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam also attended the meeting, which was held in Malaysia.
