SPC vice-president urges attention to NPC deputies' advice, promoting courts' work

Li Shaoping, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court, stressed the importance of suggestions regarding courts' work from deputies to the National People's Congress.

He made the remarks at a seminar held on Sept 18 that concluded the inspection tour made by several delegations to the NPC from Hebei, Jiangsu, Henan, Hubei and Guangdong provinces to courts in East China's Jiangsu province.

The deputies fully recognized the courts' progress in many aspects after the inspection, including judicial system reform, protection for the environment and natural resources, building of one-stop diversified dispute resolution and litigation service system and smart courts construction.

Li said that organizing NPC deputies' inspections of courts and absorbing their suggestions are important ways for courts to consciously accept the supervision of the NPC, guarantee that NPC deputies' fulfill their responsibilities according to the law, and actively respond to the public's concerns. They are also crucial for courts to detect problems in time, improve their shortcomings and promote development.

The courts will carefully sort out and summarize the NPC deputies' advice and find new concepts and methods to strengthen and improve the courts' work, said Li.

He also stressed that courts will continuously deepen reform to tackle difficulties emerging during development, stimulate their internal driving force and optimize the allocation of trial resources.

Courts will continue to strengthen informationalization construction, make the judiciary more open and improve trial quality and efficiency. They will also promote their work by guaranteeing the NPC deputies could perform their duties in accordance with the law, further strengthen leadership and improve institutions and mechanisms, said Li.

He added that courts will continue to innovate work ideas and widen contact channels to provide better platforms and services for the NPC deputies so they can deeply understand and effectively supervise the courts' work.
