Courts to continue strengthening protection of consumers' rights and interests
He Xiaorong, a member of the judicial committee with the Supreme People's Court and president of the SPC's Second Circuit Court, described China's practices and experience in protecting consumers' rights and interests at a seminar of the BRICS Chief Justices Forum held via video link on Sept 8.
With the progress of China's rule of law, the number of cases related to consumers' rights and interests has remained stable but the matters raised in them have widened and the frequent issues and difficulties faced in trial are more concentrated, said He at the thematic seminar of the forum on protection of consumers' rights and interests in the modern economic environment.
China's courts have made significant progress in that area through stronger trial guidance, consistency of application of law, judicial innovation and pre-litigation mediation as well as diversified dispute settlements and cooperation with other organizations such as colleges, administrative institutions and industry associations in sharing of resources, legal publicity and advice, he said.
He said China's courts will continue to summarize their experience, consolidate innovative achievements, promote continuous development of judicial protection of consumer rights and interests, and provide potent judicial services and guarantees for promoting all-round economic and social development.
The China's courts will always advocate the spirit of cooperation, share development experience and practice a win-win philosophy, so as to contribute China's wisdom to sound international consumption ecology and the long-term improvement of the global economy.
