China Mobile Micro Court, the online trial platform of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), has provided people with one-stop litigation service comprised of online filing, remote court hearings, online signing of mediation agreements and swapping of evidence, and has seen a significant surge in user numbers during the epidemic.

As of March 31, the platform's number of real-name users reached more than 1.39 million and garnered a total of more than 270 million visits.

Xu Jianfeng, head of the SPC’s Information Bureau, said that SPC and 32 high courts across the country have adopted the platform, realizing full coverage of cross-regional case filing in courts nationwide.

In March, the platform had 390,000 new users, up 86.78 percent from February. It was visited 2.08 million times, a month-on-month increase of 53.68 percent.

In addition, during the epidemic, the number of cross-regional case filings through the platform continued to increase with the efficiency of case handling improving significantly. As of March 31, courts nationwide accepted more than 34,000 cases filed cross-regionally. About 80 percent of the filings were completed within 30 minutes and 72.63 percent took only 15 minutes, effectively alleviating litigants’ burden.

The platform’s other online litigation services have also been used much more frequently. Since the platform went into effect, courts nationwide have used the platform to deliver court documents more than 4.53 million times, cutting costs by 100 million yuan ($14.05 billion).

Xu said that the platform will play a greater role in improving both judicial convenience and litigation efficiency. The SPC will further promote the platform’s coverage, strictly improve its content and construction standard, strengthen operation and maintenance management, and make it more three-dimensional and functional to provide litigants with more convenient and efficient litigation services.
