Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), met on Jan 6 with a delegation of Chinese and Japanese legal experts attending a symposium on the comparative study of intellectual property (IP)-related issues in Beijing.

During the meeting, Luo, also head of the SPC Intellectual Property Court, said that the establishment of the SPC Intellectual Property Court was a significant decision by China’s leadership. As the world’s first special trial agency for appellate IP-related cases at the top judicial level, the court has made plenty of accomplishments since its establishment a year ago.

He pointed out that China and Japan have strengthened their communication in the IP field in recent years, with positive results. He expects the two sides to further their communication and cooperation, and to jointly promote the modernization of global IP governance.

While paying great attention to the establishment of the Intellectual Property Court and its achievements, the delegation said they expect more mutual-learning so as to push forward the development of the cause of IP protection.
