SPC vice-president stresses internationalization, modernization of IP trials
Tao Kaiyuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), called for the internationalization and modernization of the system and capability for the trial of intellectual property-related cases at a symposium held in Shanghai on Nov 26.
Tao pointed out that how to protect modern technologies as IP achievements, how to apply modern technologies in judicial trials and how to improve the capability and level of modernized trials are the major issues surrounding the task of modernizing the system and capability for IP trials.
The internationalization of such trials mainly involves the nature of intellectual property as a globally recognized right, its vital role in international competition as well as the discourse in the making of IP international rules, said Tao.
She emphasized that the modernization of the system and capability for IP-related trials must be promoted in line with similar advances in state governance.
The internationalization of IP judicial protection must keep up with the trend of the integration of global economies, she added.
Focused on the modernization and internationalization of IP judicial protection and punitive compensation for IP infringements, the symposium was jointed hosed by the Shanghai High People’s Court and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court.
Around 180 guests, including experts from Japan, Germany and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), attended the event.
