Reform essential for improved judicial work
Judicial reform should be a driving force to improve China's judicial work, Li Shaping, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), stressed during his inspection in Chongqing on Jan 31.
Li visited the Shapingba District People's Court and said officers of the court must faithfully perform the duties conferred by law, provide administrate justice for the people, maintain judicial fairness and let the people feel justice in each judicial case.
After the visit, a seminar was held between the Fifth Circuit Court led by Li and staff of the Shapingba court.
Li learned about the implementation of judicial accountability and problems of judicial reform at the court. Xian Yayong, president of the Shapingba court, gave a brief introduction to the performance assessment system and judge quota system in the court.
President of the Case Filing Tribunal Hu Min introduced the achievements in adoption of the split-flow model, which diverts complicated and simple cases into different channels. He also discussed the court's alternative dispute resolution procedures.
At the seminar, Li suggested that the court must continue to optimize assessment mechanisms and the split-flow model to improve trial efficiency and quality to meet people's increasing judicial demands.
