Sonekeo Inthilard, deputy head of the Judgment Enforcement Office of the Department of Justice of the Ministry of Justice of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, introduces the development of enforcement of judgments and challenges faced by enforcement agencies in Laos at a seminar themed on "Mutual Promotion of Enforcement and Credit System Construction" at the World Enforcement Conference on Jan 22. According to him, courts were in charge of both judgments and enforcement from 1989 to 2000 in his country. Since 2008, the enforcement work has been assigned to the Ministry of Justice. He said in many cases, debtors file an appeal which makes the enforcement period longer. He looked forward to gaining some insight into solving this problem through this conference.
