Judges at circuit court pledge allegiance to Constitution

Judges at the Fifth Circuit Court of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution on Jan 12, vowing to safeguard its authority and strictly abide by its principles.

After the oath ceremony, SPC vice-president Li Shaoping pointed out that the event was intended to raise judges’ awareness of the requirement to follow the Constitution.

He stressed that members of the circuit court must fulfill their oath and perform the duties conferred by the Constitution and laws faithfully.

Judges must also contribute to deepening judicial reform, provide judicial assistance to the development of the Southwestern China and let the people feel fairness and justice in each judicial case.

Also present at the event were Zhang Jie, deputy to the National People's Congress, Peng Jing, member of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and related staff of the Fifth Circuit Court.
