A judicial education activity, "opening trials on campus", was recently held at Qinghai Normal University by the Sixth Circuit Court as part of a cooperative series between the court and universities.
The activity was intended to use real cases to teach law students judicial procedures and at the same time disseminate legal information and raise students' awareness.
Establishing a bidirectional exchange mechanism between circuit courts and colleges enhances law-related practices and legal education and cultivates judicial talents.
The Sixth Circuit Court reached cooperation agreements with seven law schools in its circuit, including the Northwest University of Politics and Law, Xi'an Jiaotong University andNorthwest University at a seminar in May 2017.
At the meeting, Zhang Shuyuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), required courts and colleges to work together to increase their judicial exchanges and to jointly launch case-based teaching, a judicial database analysis platform and talent training courses.
Law interns and scholars are also encouraged to work at the Sixth Circuit Court to practice and learn the real work of judicial staff.
A total of 106 law interns have worked at the court's adjudication department, litigation service center and general affairs office since the court was established. They assisted in handling more than 1,800 cases in the past two years.
Six young law scholars were given a temporary post of assistant judge. During their working period, they put their academic knowledge into practices and supported the theoretical work of judicial reform.
