“For the convenience of my dad, you came such a long way to bring us the compensation. I feel so grateful!” said Gu’s son emotionally, holding the hand of a lawyer surnamed Zhou.

Gu was hit by a light truck and paralyzed on Oct. 18, 2011 in Funing county of East China's Jiangsu province. Gu was awarded 310,000 yuan ($ 46,361) compensation in a lawsuit but he never received the money.

In January of 2016, he applied for an order of compulsory execution from the local court.

Since Gu lives far away from the court in Zhouhong village, two lawyers from the local court -- Zhou Xingsheng and Tang Tiancheng -- offered to take the compensation to Gu at his home.
