China’s top justice Zhou Qiang has said the court authorities will push IT technology-based system upgrading to build an “intelligent court system”.

Zhou, president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), made the comments during a ceremony marking the launch of strategic cooperation between the SPC and the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) on Dec 25, 2015.

Zhou said the ongoing global wave of technology revolution is causing great social and economic changes and to implement the country’s Internet-based development strategies, the SPC will accelerate the pace of IT technology-based system upgrading in the country’s courts at various levels.

Although much headway has been made in that regard, Zhou said, the court system will continue to improve their IT technology-based transformation to build an “intelligent court system” and improve the ability of the people’s courts to provide equitable services to the people.

Zhou said the strategic cooperation between the SPC and the CETC marks an important step in the SPC’s system upgrading. He said the two sides should closely cooperate in the fields of key technology R&D, cloud computing, big data application and research and development of special equipment for the information system to provide a strong technological guarantee for judicial activities.

Xiong Qunli, chairman and Party chief of the CETC, said the group will make relentless efforts to help the court system’s IT technology-based upgrading.
