Wang Shumei meets with Great Britain China Centre delegation

On March 21, Wang Shumei, standing member of the Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s adjudication committee (vice-minister level), met with a delegation from the Great Britain China Centre (GBCC) headed by its president David Lidington.

Wang extended a warm welcome to the group, saying that judicial departments of China and the United Kingdom (UK) have maintained good communications over the years, resulting in strengthened mutual understanding and trust. China's SPC and the GBCC have cooperated for over twenty years, yielding fruitful projects and promoting friendly exchanges between legal professionals of the two countries, she said, adding that the SPC is ready to work with the British side to continue strengthening judicial cooperation and provide higher quality judicial services for the enterprises and people of both countries to contribute to the sustainable development of bilateral relations. She also briefed the guests on the SPC's work in such areas as international commercial dispute resolution, the protection of women and children's rights, and intellectual property right protection.

Lidington, also former minister for the Cabinet Office of the UK, thanked Wang for the meeting and lauded the positive results of bilateral cooperation in judicial fields. He raised his hope for closer cooperation with China's SPC to further contribute to the friendly relations between the two countries.
