SPC hosts exchange activities for Hong Kong judicial delegation

Upon invitation from the Supreme People's Court (SPC), a judicial delegation from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) headed by Jeremy Poon Shui-chor, chief judge of the High Court of Hong Kong, visited Beijing from Oct 29 to Nov 5 for exchange activities with judicial professionals on the Chinese mainland.

Zhang Jun, president of the SPC, met with the delegation on Oct 30, during which he raised his hope that judicial organs in Hong Kong will fully tap the advantages of Hong Kong to meet the needs of the country, and further strengthen communication and cooperation with mainland courts to jointly contribute to the advancement of rule of law under the "one country, two systems" policy.

During the visit, officials and experts from the HKSAR Basic Law Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, the SPC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Academy of Governance conducted in-depth exchanges with the delegation on such topics as the Constitution and the HKSAR Basic Law, theories of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, China's foreign policy and international situation, and the latest national development situation.

Professional seminars were also held between the delegation and SPC judges on such topics as the jury system, cases related to corporate law and anti-unfair competition law, and judicial assistance in civil and commercial matters.

During their stay, the group visited the National Museum, the SPC's key laboratory of the smart court, the China Court Museum, the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, and attended related case trials as observers  at Haidian Primary People's Court of Beijing.
