A top Chinese official has spoken of the importance of his country and Vietnam working together to combat crime in a Sino-Vietnam conference on joint approaches to crime on Oct 11.

The comments were made by Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, who met Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, To Lam, in Beijing.

The presidents of the two countries have made strategic plans for deepening the relationship between the two countries as well as the Communist Party in each, Guo said.

Guo said he hoped China’s Ministry of Public Security and its counterpart in Vietnam could implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and use the conference to improve law-enforcement and security collaboration.

He also talked of the importance of strengthening collaboration in fighting transnational organized crime and online crime, which would help the Belt and Road Construction and the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.

To Lam said he was willing to work with China to promote practical collaboration in any way possible.
