SPC President and Chief Justice Zhou Qiang and Minister of Education Yuan Guiren urged further integration of legal education and judicial practice when they toured the National Judges College in Beijing on April 9. They also called for improvements to the college’s operations and China’s legal education.

Yuan affirmed the school’s achievements in building a sound educational training program.

Yuan said the college has top quality facilities, abundant teaching resources and effective academic program structures, all of which nurture high-quality judges and promote China’s rule of law.

Zhou acknowledged the Education Ministry’s continuing contribution to education and training to support people’s courts and hoped the National Judges College will deepen its cooperation with education departments and other higher education institutes to guide judicial practice with demand-oriented measures and a problem-oriented approach.

A two-way communication mechanism between people’s courts and law schools and courts and personnel in legal research institutes should be established, and improvements should be made to the recruitment of law scholars and interns, Zhou added.
