Zhang congratulated Song on her recent appointment and extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that since Macao's return to the motherland 25 years ago, it has achieved significant progress in the practice of “one country, two systems” with Macao characteristics. Macao’s courts have played a vital role in upholding the constitutional order established by the Constitution and the Basic Law of the Macao SAR, effectively safeguarding the rule of law and ensuring lasting stability and prosperity in the region, he added.

Zhang expressed his hope that the courts of Macao SAR will continue to carry forward their fine traditions, conscientiously perform their judicial duties, and fully implement the Macao National Security Law. He urged Macao to further improve its judicial system and write a new chapter in the practice of “one country, two systems” in the region.

During the meeting, Zhang also briefed the delegation on the ongoing progress in advancing the rule of law in the country, including judicial reform and the development of smart courts. The SPC places high importance on strengthening judicial exchanges and cooperation with courts in Macao and looks forward to expanding collaboration areas, thereby supporting Macao in appropriately diversifying its economy and integrating into the country’s overall development, he added.

Song expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Macao courts’ firm commitment to upholding the authority of the Constitution and the Basic Law. She noted that Macao courts will continue to perform their judicial responsibilities with professionalism, safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and improve judicial quality and efficiency. She also expressed a desire to further enhance cooperation with mainland courts in areas such as judicial assistance and personnel training.

Mao Zhonghua, vice-president of the SPC, and representatives from relevant departments of the SPC, also attended the meeting.
