The Supreme People's Court (SPC) met on Sept 6 to mark the establishment of its second advisory committee on cybersecurity and information technology and to discuss the building of smart courts as well.

Speaking at the meeting, Zhou Qiang, the SPC's president, said that the second committee will provide Chinese courts with greater support and help in terms of the application of information technology.

He called for the application of such technologies as big data and artificial intelligence, the building of an open, dynamic, transparent and convenient judicial mechanism, and handy, intelligent and precise judicial services.

Wang Qinmin, head of the second advisory committee, said that Chinese courts have been drawing on the ongoing technological leap to generalize the application of information technology in the judicial field.

He added that this advisory committee would continue to offer advice on the building of smart courts.
