Special tribunal launched to support CIIE
A special tribunal was established on Oct 8 to deal with cases related to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and some foreign-related commercial cases.
Established by Shanghai Qingpu District People's Court, the West Hongqiao (CIIE) People's Tribunal has accepted and enforced 33 cases to date, six of which were related to foreign commercial affairs
The tribunal, covering 435 sq m, has a tribunal, a litigation service center and a litigation and mediation center.
Besides judiciary staff selected from Shanghai courts, foreign mediators were also recruited to provided foreign parties with professional and international commercial mediation service.
Civil and commercial affairs related to CIIE, including event venue usage and foreign-related commercial affairs are all targets of the tribunal.
The tribunal will innovate foreign-related litigation mechanisms and improve foreign-related commercial adjudication following international economic and trade regulations.
The tribunal's official website in both Chinese and English is now online (http://ciiecourt.hshfy.sh.cn/english/index.html). Users can obtain information about cases, disputes, judicial suggestions and law resources related to the CIIE and foreign-related commercial cases on the website.
The China International Import Expo (CIIE), which runs from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai, is the world's first import-themed national-level expo. It will feature enterprise and business exhibitions, country pavilions for trade and investment, and the Hongqiao International Economic and Trade Forum.
